18 die in Pakistan after drinking toxic liquor

At least 18 people, including two policemen, have died and six others were hospitalised after drinking toxic liquor in Pakistan's Karachi city during Eid, the Geo News reported Monday.

The incident occurred after a large quantity of toxic liquor was sold from a shop in the city on Eid-ul-Fitr Friday.

On Saturday night, several people were admitted to Jinnah hospital when they fell sick after consuming the toxic liquor. Sixteen people died by Sunday night, while two others succumbed at a private hospital Monday morning, police sources said.

Meanwhile, police claimed to have arrested two persons involved in the sale of the toxic liquor.
