The Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, currently leads the Canadian delegation at the Seafood Expo North America 2015. She is meeting with buyers, suppliers and exhibitors from across North America and overseas to demonstrate the Government of Canada’s vast efforts to build on existing markets and to introduce new markets for the country’s seafood products.
While touring the exhibit, Minister Shea visited the booth of Nova Scotia’s St Mary's River Smokehouses and was delighted to learn, first hand, how such seafood businesses benefit from favourable conditions in Canada to compete internationally. During the expo, St Mary's River Smokehouses was showcasing its candied Atlantic salmon.
“St Mary’s River Smokehouses is known as the innovative leader in smoked salmon in Canada, bringing new ideas to the retail market place.”
