MP John Weston Visits Students Raising Salmon in the Classroom

March 07, 2015 10:42 AM

John Weston, Member of Parliament for West Vancouver-Sunshine Coast-Sea to Sky Country, earlier today visited a class at Irwin Park Elementary School who is raising salmon. The class is involved in the Government of Canada’s Stream to Sea/Salmonids in the Classroom program where students raise salmon from eggs to young fry, and then release them into local streams. The program is part of the Salmonid Enhancement Program, which plays a key role in the work of Fisheries and Oceans Canada to conserve and manage Pacific salmon stocks, and to educate future generations about the importance of Pacific salmon.
