Coming from a modest background, with no godfather in B-town to support him, Shah Rukh has carved a niche for himself and over the years has emerged as the biggest star the country has ever seen.

As the Happy New Year superstar turns 49 today, we bring you a collage of pictures depicting the various phases of his life.

Baby SRK

Born on November 2, 1965, to Meer Taj Mohammed Khan and Lateef Fatima, Shah Rukh spent the first five years in Mangalore, at his maternal grandmother’s place. And his black white baby picture is quite famous amongst the fans circle. Infact, when SRK’s son Abram’s baby pictures where revealed, the image had a striking resemblance with Shah Rukh’s baby picture.

Teenage SRK

He might have been the teenage heartthrob amongst all the young girls for decades now, but how would you like to see SRK in his early teenage years. Another black white pic which shows an adolescent Shah Rukh with long well combed hair is pretty popular among the SRK maniacs. The picture of teenage Shah Rukh in grey suit, having fun with his school mates shows the transformation of SRK from a cute child to a dashing man.

Fauji SRK

Before ruling the film world, SRK made a modest TV debut in 1989 with a show called Fauji. He later starred in various other TV series like Circus and Wagle Ki Duniya. His look from Fauji is still famous as we got to see the SRK in his most raw and young avatar.

90’s SRK

The advent of 1990’s saw a great turn of fortune for Shah Rukh, who landed in a role in Hema Malini’s Dil Aashna Hai. But due to delays, Deewana along side Rishi Kapoor and Divya Bharti became his debut flick. After tasting initial success and experimenting with negative roles, Shah Rukh teamed with Aditya Chopra and rest is history. Together, they made a classic love story called Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, which made SRK-Kajol Jodi as the best onscreen jodi. With films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Dil Toh Pagal Hai, SRK established himself as the ultimate king of romance.

2000’s SRK

The turn of the millennium saw Shah Rukh Khan’s popularity reaching dizzying heights. Not only were his films turning out to b blockbusters, he had slowly but stedily conquered the ad world too. With films like Kal HoNa Ho, Veer Zaara, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Om Shanti Om and many more, Sharukh Khan had became a brand name not just in Indian cinema, but all over the world as well. King Khan was one of the first Bollywood actors to have their wax statue in Madam Tussaauds Muesum.

2010-2014 SRK

The actor continued his winning streak in box office with his films Chennai Express and this Diwali release Happy New Year, performing incredibly well at box office. While SRK is beaming at the success of Happy New Year, his fans are already awaiting for his future projects Fan and Raaes to hit the screens.

We wish the Bollywood’s favourite Rahul a very happy birthday and hope he continues to entertain us as he has over the last two and a half decades.
