SYNOPSIS:
The movie ‘Tamanchey’ orbits around the two hardwired criminal lovers of the movie, Munna (Nikhil Dwivedi) and Babu (Richa Chadda). Both the criminal characters bump into each other in one of the strangest situations and it is really ‘strange’. It is hard to believe that Munna and Babu survive a deadly police van accident which killed all the policemen and the other criminals as well. Nevertheless, both of them have to stay covert until the police officials publicly announce them dead. On their way, they start developing feelings for each other and one fine day, Munna dozes off with a belief that things between them will turn into love until he wakes up alone in city completely unknown to him. However, Munna starts searching for Babu and soon he learns that she is the mistress of a menacing gangster Rana Tau (Damandeep Singh). Munna joins Rana’s gang to win over her love. What’s next? Whether Munna can break all the perimeters to win his love who herself is playing hide and seek? What happens of Munna and Babu’s love? Will Munna and Babu be able to come out from clutches of Rana? This is the rest of the story.

STORY, SCREENPLAY AND DIALOGUES:
Writer Shailesh Pratap Singh and Bharat Ratan have come up with a very usual drama and story seen end number of times in Hindi cinema, but in a very pathetic manner. The narrative is poor with no logics and required drama and emotions. The writers doesn’t bother to clarify anything, how the couple fell in love, how Munna fell so deep in love that he gets ready to sacrifice his life, what is the gangster Rana exactly up to, and what kind of business and crime is he into, all the topics are left un justified with so many liberties taken. It feels like just for the sake of writing the duo has come up with anything just to finish the script. There is certain predictability in the narrative which doesn’t hold the interest of audience. Dialogues are just okay but too heavy with all the time actors using accent from U.P.

PERFORMANCES:
Nikhi Dwivedi tries hard to prove himself but fails to create any impact, he was not able to get in to his character and rather looked artificial in trying to use the accent of U.P in his dialogues, a sheer poor performance. Richa Chadda was fine but was over in many sequences while trying to portray the role of a gangster and she too looked artificial in few of the sequences while using the accent of U.P in her dialogues. Damandeep Singh was fine and shows some prominence in his negative character, but due to poor scripting and direction fails to create the necessary impact. Other cast and crew were also poor.

DIRECTION, CINEMATOGRAPHY AND EDITING:
Just when the audience has not even come out from the torture of previously released film ‘Desi Kattey’, director Navneet Behal comes up with his torture offering ‘Tamanchey’. From the very first scene where Richa is seen running away from the police till she runs away with Nikhil after more 2 scenes, the director assures the audience to bear this film throughout, He has taken lots of cinematic liberties and fails to engross the audience in his narration. Cinematography was poor and very jerky in many sequences where the cameraman has taken handled shots, which was not required. Editing of the film could have been more sharp.

ACTION, BACKGROUND SCORE AND MUSIC:
The action in the film is very common and there is nothing much to offer except the usual gun firings and killing sequences. The music and the songs in the movie are way below average. The background score is loud and not very synchronizing to the scenes. The music is directed by Deepti Nangia, Dani Sanchez Lopez and Krsna and somehow the songs are not at all impressive. Out of all the tracks, there are only a couple of tracks which are decent enough. One of the two is ‘Pyaar Mein Dil Pe Maar De Goli’ which is recreated in a new composition with contemporary lyrics. The other song is ‘Dildara’ which is a sweet love song and is graced by Sonu Nigam’s lovely voice.

CHOREOGRAPHY, LOCATIONS AND PRODUCTION VALUE:
The choreography in the movie is not very good and is just average. The locations in the movie are dull and cover the remote village areas of UP and the outskirts of Delhi, Production values are poor.

OUR VERDICT:
Overall, Tamanchey fails to entertain you in any way and is a sheer pain and torture to the viewers to bear this film till the end. There is no thrill, adventure, action or desired love in the film. So it is definitely not recommended.
