Chetan Bhagat is all set to turn producer for his next novel, ‘Half Girlfriend’. The author has collaborated with Mohit Suri and Ekta Kapoor who will be on board as co-producers.

The book will be launched on October 1st in Mumbai and Delhi. Riya will be played by Alia Bhatt who is a posh girl from Delhi and is the protagonist mentioned in the book. 

A source said, Riya is a student at St. Stephen’s and has an air of self-importance around her. But that is just her exterior.” Kriti Sanon and Huma Qureshi were among the contenders for the role, however it is learnt that the ball is in Alia’s court. It’s a role tailor-made for Alia and both Mohit and Chetan believe that Alia, who had earlier played Ananya Swaminathan in ‘2 States’ based on another Chetan bestseller, will do complete justice to Riya. Alia herself is keen to work with Mohit, who is her cousin.”

When contacted Mohit, he said that Alias is an amazing actress and she would be great for the role of Riya.
