September 17, 2014 11:45 PM

"Today in the after, We members of Aam Aadmi Party, Chandigarh went to submit the presentation to Mr. Danis Ashraf, Director Food and supplies in Sector 17, regarding the implementation of National Food Security Act -2013(Right to Food Act). This act is welcome change to ensure subsidized food grains to the deserving beneficiaries as their right instead of welfare measure. But it's implementation is not so easy and there are certain barriers to devoid the poor people of their Right to food. The food and supplies department has imposed certain conditions for the eligibility under this act which almost is extremely difficult to adhere by people and is against the very spirit of this act.

The volunteers namely Miss Kalana Das, Miss Neetu Punj, Mr. Najar Singh, Mr. Amaranth, Mr. Inderjeet, Mr. Balram, Mr Vijay Kumar from Faidan and Kaimbwala went along with office bearers namely Mr. Vijaypal Singh, Mr. Sachin, Mr. Inderjeet Ahluwalia and Mr. Gurjusjit Singh of AAP, Chandigarh handed over the presentation to Mr. Jai Kumar ( Assistant Director Food and Supplies in absence of Mr. Danish Ashraf.

Forms are available at Food and Supplies department where as they could be sold at all the E Sampark centers.

Verification of Voter cards from election commission office with minimum five years of stay in Chandigarh is also cumbersome and unnecessary. It can easily be verified on election commission website to avoid harassment.

Some of them are asked to get in writing from their area BDO that they are not availing this service in their village ie in UP, Bihar etc. If the affidavit is given that they are not withdrawing Rations from any other part of India, this in itself is tedious process for poor people who are mostly daily wagers and will loose on their income not to mention what they ll spend on running around to get the deletion certificate.

And further all those people who are living in shelter homes, Rickshaw pullers sleeping in various markets, beggars sleeping on streets and homeless sleeping in Raen Basera's. Most of the needy will be unable to fulfill all these requirements.

AAP volunteers are already helping the people to fill these forms in their areas namely Faidan, Kaimbwala, Khudda Ali Sher, Maloya, Kajheri, Palsora, Mauli Jagran, Mani Majra to name a few."
