India’s current comic craze turns 33 today
Born on April 2, 1981 Kapil Sharma is the most loved stand-up comedian in India today. The funny man started his career in 1996 with MH1′s Punjabi comedy show,Hasde Hasounde Raho. He was selected among top 100 celebrities in 2013 Forbes India magazines and he was ranked 96th in that list. That’s not all. At CNN-IBN Indian of the Year awards, Sharma was felicitated with Entertainer of the Year award for 2013. Let’s take a look at India’s current comic craze’s career highs…
Though Kapil started his career as a comedian in 1996, he only came into the limelight when he won the stand-up comedy reality series, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge in 2007, where he received huge acclaim for his characters, Lala Roshan Lal and Shamsher Singh (the Punjab Police cop). And that was just the beginning of his fantastic journey. Later, Kapil won comedy series Comedy Circus Ke SuperStars, Comedy Circus Ka Jadoo, Jubilee Comedy Circus, Comedy Circus Ka Naya Daur and Kahani Comedy Circus Ki. Well, making people laugh is no child’s play, but Kapil took that difficult job and reached at the point where he is today. He will surely agree with us when we say that comedy is the best thing that ever happened to him.
Kapil then went on to host the season 6 of celebrity dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa with Manish Paul. As his stint as a host ended, Kapil came up with his own show, Comedy Nights With Kapil. And the rest as we all know is history. Kapil became an overnight sensation and became a favourite of not only the general public, but also won the hearts of many B-town peeps including Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan and many others, who graced his show.
Now, the funny man has taken another big step as he is all set to make his Bollywood debut with Yash Raj Films’ upcoming film, Bank Chor.
Here’s wishing Kapil Sharma a very happy birthday. You can send your wishes too, BollywoodLifers.
