Why all the new releases started on a dull note?

March 31, 2014 10:16 AM

Three films had hit the screens on Friday, ‘Dishkiyaoon’, ‘O Teri’ and ‘Youngistaan’. All the movies were well promoted and the pre-releases buzz was equal of all the flicks. But, then why these movies failed to take a good start at the box-office?

Each and every film had a USP. ‘O Teri’s USP was Salman Khan. The movie was presented by the actor and he even did a cameo in the film, but even Salman’s name didn’t help the film to get a good start at the box-office. The film collected Rs. 85 Lakhs on day one, which is miserable.

The second release of the week is ‘Dishkiyaoon’. Actress Shilpa Shetty makes her debut as a producer with the film and she has also shown us some thumkas in the movie. The film has Sunny Deol in a prominent role and it has been released in good number screens (around 1500 screens). But, with all these positive aspects also the film didn’t took a decent start at the box-office and only collected Rs. 1.45cr on day one.

‘Youngistaan’, is the third release of the week. The concept and the songs were the USP of film. The movie has been released in around 800 screens and collected Rs. 1.54cr. But, we can expect a better collection from the film over the weekend, as the movie has got mixed to positive reviews and the word of mouth is also quite good.

Let’s see which film leads at the box-office over the weekend.
