There were a lot of speculations that who will star in Madhur Bhandarkar's ‘Madamji’. Deepika Padukone and Vidya Balan were considered for the role. But, the role has gone to none other than, Madhur’s ‘Fashion’ girl Priyanka Chopra.
The director wanted to start the shooting of the film in May, but as Priyanka is busy till mid-October, the first schedule of the movie will start after that.
A source close to the film said, "Priyanka and Madhur had a meeting before she left to shoot the on-going schedule of the Mary Kom biopic. She told Madhur that she was bowled over by the script and definitely wants to be a part of the project, but there was a hitch."
"Priyanka wants do ‘Madamji’ in one go since it is a challenging role. She doesn't want any distraction," the source added.
However, it is learnt that Madhur will start his another moderate budget flick ‘Calendar Girls’ first.
Talking about it, the source said, "’Calendar Girls’ needs only 55-56 days of shoot. The team has already set the stage for the first schedule. The cast will comprise mostly newcomers and Madhur will have to speed up the casting process."
Madhur confirmed the news and said, "Priyanka and I are working on the schedule and other modalities for 'Madamji'. But yes, I may make 'Calendar Girls' first."
‘Madamji’ will be based on a story of an item girl-turned-politician.
