Three big films had hit the screens on last Friday, ‘Gulaab Gang’, ‘Queen’ and ‘Total Siyapaa’. All the three films had started on a slow note, but ‘Queen’ has won the weekend race.
Vikas Bahl’s ‘Queen’ starring Kangana Ranaut started on a dull note and collected Rs. 1.75cr on Friday. However, the film showed a fantastic jump on Saturday and Sunday, and collected Rs. 3.50cr and Rs. 5.10cr respectively. ‘Queen’ has collected Rs. 9.35cr in three days, which is good looking at the number screens (around 800 screens) it had released.
While, on the other hand, ‘Gulaab Gang’, which released in 1600 plus screens has collected a disappointing amount. On Friday, the movie collected Rs. 2.41cr, on Saturday the collection was Rs. 3cr and on Sunday it collected Rs. 3.90cr, taking the first weekend total to Rs. 9.31cr.
Well, ‘GG’ has collected something similar to ‘Queen’, but the difference is of screens, where Madhuri-Juhi starrer released in 1600 plus screens, Kangana starrer only had around 800 screens in hand. So, it is clear that ‘Queen’ is a winner. We can expect ‘Queen’ to be steady on week days as well.
Oh Yes! We can’t forget the third release of the week, ‘Total Siyapaa’. The film starring Ali Zafar and Yami Gautam had a bad Friday and it didn’t show any growth over the weekend. The movie on Friday collected Rs. 1.11cr and on Saturday and Sunday, it collected Rs. 1.43cr and Rs. 1.65cr respectively, taking the first weekend total to Rs. 4.19cr. The collection of ‘TS’ is disappointing, however it seems like the negative word of mouth has proved a hurdle in the collections.
