Badal’s attempts to save Majithia would not succeed: Fateh Bajwa

Amritsar, January 17-

The Congress workers in large number today

blocked the road traffic at Bhandari bridge here on call given by PPCC
for Chakka Jam for two hours all over the Punjab and raised slogans
against Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal for trying to save
Revenue Minister Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia, the key player in drug
racket.

The protest dharna was led by PPCC General Secretaries Mr. Fateh Jung
Singh Bajwa, Joginder Dhingra and DCC president Rajiv Bhagat. The
workers in thousands marched through Hall Bazar to Bhandari Bridge and
blocked traffic for two hours. The Chakka jam was peaceful.

Mr. Fateh Bajwa while addressing the protest dharna said that the
efforts of Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal to save Mr. Majithia
would not succeed. He said that Mr. Badal and Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal
were running away from holding CBI inquiry into drug racket despite
the fact that drug lord Jagdish Bhola had named Majithia and two other
ministers involved in the drug racket. He said that Mr. Badal was
scared that if CBI probe is ordered, names of other members of cabinet
and their family would surface in the drug racket.

Mr. Fateh Bajwa said that people of Punjab wanted to know the truth
and see the real culprits behind bars. He said that Mr. Sukhbir Badal
was married to sister of Mr. Majithia and this is major reason, the
government wanted to save him. He also warned strict action against
leaders who are opposing CBI probe and playing in the hands of Badals.
He said that Congress would continue the stir till case reaches at
logical end.

Mr. Bajwa and Mr. Dhingra thanked the people of Amritsar for huge
participation in the Chakka Jam and said that it has sent a strong
message to the Badal government. They said that Congress workers were
ready to make any sacrifice for the cause of state and country. The
Congress leaders Mr. Ravinder Sharma, Savinder Shafi and Sarchand
Singh were also present.
