Ludhiana: Once people were targeted of bullets now they are becoming “target” of drugs in Punjab andPunjabunder the rule of the SAD-BJP combine government had become a shelter for drug summers. Akali-BJP rule becomes shelter for drug smugglers

Badal family making all out efforts to protect Majithia

CBI only way to bring out truth

Despite the hard fact that the drug lord Jagdish Bhola had exposed name of the Punjab Revenue Minister, Bikram Singh Majithia thePunjabchief minister Parkash Singh Badal was not initiating any action. The whole Badal family was indulging into protecting Majithia instead of ordering for a CBI inquiry or removing him from the Punjab Cabinet.

This was stated by Pawan Dewan, President, District Congress Committee (Urban),Ludhianawhile addressing the hundreds of party men at the time of `chakka jam’ near Jalandhar Bypass here on Thursday. The party’s state leadership had given the state-wide programme of `chakka jam’ following which the district party men gathered near Jalandhar Bypass, demanding handing over of the drug racket case to CBI and seeking removal of Majithia from Punjab Cabinet. Dewan regretted thatPunjabwas on the bank of ruins due to the prevailing drug menace.

He alleged thatPunjabhad become a shelter for drug smugglers under 7-years regime of the SAD-BJP government and the leaders and the ministers of the ruling state government were directly involved in the drug racket. Jagdish Bhola had made revelations to this effect during police interrogations, he said.

Dewan regretted that the SAD-BJP government inPunjabwas making all out efforts to suppress the bitter truths. The state government had even given clean chit to Majithia in a hurried manner, he said, adding the Youth Akali Dal senior leader and a close associate of Majithia Maninder Singh Bittu while moving in red beacon vehicles and under police protection had been supplying drugs to Bhola. Bittu alongwith another accused Jagdish Singh Bhahal ofAmritsarhad been producing drugs over the years. Why under rule of the SAD-BJP government Punjab police failed to get them arrested, he asked.

On the occasion, Block Presidents Baljinder Singh Bunty, Rocky Bhatia, Satwinder Jwaddi, Vinod Batthla, Palwinder Singh Taggar, Jarnail Singh Shimlapuri, Kanwardeep Singh Puppy, Gurmukh Singh Mithu, Sanjay Sharma, Rakesh Sharma, councillors Ashwani Sharma, Varinder Sehgal and Prof. Harwinderpal Singh Lalli spoke on the occasion.
