Italian footballer Andrea Pirlo said that he wants to secure a contract extension and stay at Juventus.

Pirlo, whose contract with Juventus will expire in June, dismissed speculations that he could leave on a free transfer for Real Madrid where he'd reunite with Carlo Ancelotti, reports Xinhua.

"If I chose to leave Milan for Juventus it was because I hoped to begin a winning era in a new club," he said Saturday.

The 34-year-old midfielder said he would discuss about his contract extension soon with Juventus.

"My intentions are clear as I want to stay at Juventus. Over the next few days we'll meet with the club and there is optimism," said the Italian international, who has not yet set a date for his retirement.

"I still want to play. I don't know when I will retire but as long as I have the desire to train and fight, I will certainly continue," he added.
