Two-time Olympic sailing champion Robert Scheidt won the Brazil Cup following seven victories in nine regattas.
His third placing in the final race Saturday saw him eclipse England's Nick Thompson and fellow Brazilian Matheus Dellagnelo for the title in Niteroi, near Rio de Janeiro, Xinhua reported.
"I was really consistent throughout, it was a great start to the year," Scheidt said.
The 40-year-old relished the chance to preview the sailing venue for the 2016 Olympic Games.
"We sailed in different places every day and had the opportunity to experience all of the routes that will be used during the Olympics," Scheidt added.
