Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today constituted a high level committee for solving all the issues pertaining to the ETT Teachers, working under Zila Parishads across the state, within a month. A decision to this effect was taken by the Chief Minister during a meeting with the representatives of the ETT teachers here at Punjab Bhawan this morning.
Taking part in deliberations, the Chief Minister said that the committee comprising his Principal Secretary Mr. SK Sandhu, Financial Commissioner Rural Development Mr. Mandeep Singh Sandhu and Principal Secretary Education Mrs. Anjali Bhanwra would minutely examine all the demands of the ETT Teachers and find some viable solution for them within a month. He also asked the Committee to look into the matter of shifting these Teachers on the vacant posts of Education department in the districts to streamline the Primary Education in the state. Likewise, Mr. Badal also asked the committee to discuss the issue regarding fixing of seniority of these teachers during their merger with the ETT teachers of the education department.
The Chief Minister also asked the Committee to study the Rajasthan and Haryana models for merging the ETT teachers of Panchayat and Education department. He also directed the committee to ensure that the infra structure in the newly constituted Directorate for the schools run by the Panchayat Department must be upgraded and strengthened so as to effectively deliver the services to the stakeholders. Mr. Badal asked his Principal Secretary Mr. SK Sandhu to regularly update him about the proceedings conducted by the Committee.
The Chief Minister, while taking strict view of the inordinate delay in implementing the decisions taken during the meetings, cautioned the officers that from now onwards strict action would be taken against them for any such lapse. He said that the delay in implementing the important decisions led to many complications, which needs to be avoided by the officers.
Prominent amongst those present in the meeting included Cabinet Ministers Mr. Surjit Singh Rakhra and Mr. Sikander Singh Maluka, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. SK Sandhu, Financial Commissioner Rural Development Mr. Mandeep Singh Sandhu, Principal Secretary Education Mrs. Anjali Bhanwra, Special Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. KJS Cheema, Secretary Expenditure Mr. Jaspal Singh, Director General School Education Mr. Kumar Rahul and Director Rural Development and Panchayats Mr. S Karunaraju.
