Patil Inaugurates Rifle Shooting Sports facility atChandigarh

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Governor and Administrator UT Chandigarh Mr. Shivraj V. Patil today visited Chandigarh Lake Sports Club and shown keen interest in all the sports events including Rifle Shooting, Rowing, Horse Riding club ,Archery Gymnasium Hall.

 

Interacting with Officers and sportsman’s, Mr Patil said sports and games are an integral part of our national life.  It is, therefore, imperative that interest among the youth about this vital aspect must be inculcated from the very beginning in the school age.  He said that the games and sports are necessary and useful for all which helps in character building, physical fitness and also teaches discipline and self reliance in players.

 

Appreciating well designed Lake Sports Club and its ongoing activities Mr. Patil asked secretary Sports Mr. VK Singh to make arrangement of water scooters also in this sports club and give more funds for further development of the club.Inaugurating Shooting Sports facility at theLakeclub Mr. Patil who was also very good shooter fired two shots with Air Rifle hitting both in the bulls’ eye.  He also tried his hand on Bow and Arrow in the Archery club.

 

The Governor further said that Chandigarh Administration has created very good facilities in different disciplines of sports and the players must optimally use all these facilities for achieving the best results in National and International events and was committed to provide better infrastructure and facilities to sports person. He asked the officers concerned to ensure the maintenance of existing infrastructure.

 

The Administrator also seen photo exhibition presented by Ms Nicola Colquhoun at the Lake Sports Club. Mr. VK Singh Secretary Sports Chandigarh Administration said that all ongoing sports events in the Chandigarh Lake Sports Club were revived and developed with the initiatives of the Administrator and assured that the sports department would work as per the expectations of the Administrator in future also to make this club one of the best in the region.

 

Earlier, Mr. T.S. Dhillon, General Manager, Lake Sports Club brief the Administrator regarding the activities of the sports club and future plans. Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included Mr. KK Sharma, Adviser  to Administrator, Mr. M.P. Singh, Principal Secretary to Governor, Mr. Anil Kumar, Home Secretary, Mohd Shyian, Deputy Commissioner, Mrs Sumit Kaur, Chief Architect and Mr. S.K. Chadha, Chief Engineer.
