CHANDIGARH--- Immigration especially to Canada is sought after by North Indians, mainly Punjabis. A business route is available to the cash rich Punjabis for migrating to Canada on an Investor Business Visa. In the last year or so various unscrupulous agents/consultants have been spreading rumours that the Canadian Investor Visa applications have been stopped by the Canadian Government. Putting anxiety and fear in the minds of those who have applied for the said visa or those who have planned to apply for one.
Mr. Kuldip Singh, a prominent Advocate in this field since 1970, a leading authority on taxation, immigration and business law, has come forth and given a statement voluntarily to allay fears of the people in this regard. He said, “These rumours are absolutely false and are being spread by unscrupulous agents for their own vested interests in the Northern Region. He has further elaborated that the true and legal fact is that the Canadian Government has only temporarily suspended accepting NEW applications (w.e.f. July 1st 2012) and this suspension has no-effect whatsoever on applications already under process and which are pending with them as on 30th June, 2012.”
Mr. Kuldip Singh informed that the Canadian Government has stopped accepting NEW applications under the Federal Investor and Entrepreneur program to focus and process and clear the applications received before July 1st, 2012. In this regard, he quoted as authority to back his claim the statement of the Canadian Government as appearing on the Citizenship and Immigration of Canada (CIC) website where it has been stated that:
“As of July 1, 2012, we are not accepting federal Investor applications for the time being. This is, so, we can focus on processing the applications we already have and review the program.
This pause on new applications will go on until further notice. It does not apply to the Quebec Immigrant Investor Program.”(Refertowww.cic.ca.enGlish/immigrate/business/investors/index.asp)”
It is noteworthy that applying for this visa is a major undertaking. Once the process is started it takes a lot of supporting documentation to be produced and checked. All this is a slow moving process and takes a long time to be completed. Accordingly, the program has only been temporarily suspended for New Applicants w.e.f.1st July, 2012.
