Annual alumni reunion evoke nostalgia

CHANDIGARH: University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) gave its alumni a 'red carpet' welcome in its first annual alumni reunion that was hosted at Hotel Shivalik view, Sector-17,Chandigarh. The event was marked by the presence of alumni settled all across the globe.

 

Dr. Renu Vig, Director, UIET commenced the event with a welcome note quoting "Alumni are UIET's representatives in the industry. Alumni engagement is must for carving the future direction of the institute."

 

The rendezvous had an ambiance full of nostalgia and ecstasy. The alumni shared their experiences of  'how it was back then' and also how the institute helped them to figure out what they wanted to be while guiding them through the steps to get there. Apart from sharing the past experiences, new trends were set for the future to follow. Scholarships categorized into entrepreneur funds, exposure for students (national/global), individual and batch scholarships were launched by the alumni for the benefits of current students.

 

Alumni membership cards which will provide several privileges were given to the registered alumni. Also, an alumni magazine was launched which will be an annual feature comprising the details of all the initiatives undertaken by the Alumni Affairs Office.

 

Alumni Mentorship Program meant for guiding the current students was kick started. The program is divided into six domains: Core, non-core, MBA, entrepreneurship, MS/Research/Ph.D., Govt. /PSU. The mentors of respective domain resolve the queries of the students and help them shape their future in a better way. Several other alumni initiatives for 2014 to take UIET to the next level were discussed.

 

AlumniReunionis an ideal way of keeping in touch and rekindling the bonds forged during college days. Dr. Rajesh Madan, faculty member, UIET quoted "I am grateful to all the alumni for returning to enrich and renew the bond. Hope this reunion will rekindle pleasant memories of your campus days and create wonderful new ones".

 

The reunion ended with scrumptious dinner and cocktails. Annual Alumni Reunion 2013 would have not been possible without partners and supporters withMonte Carlobeing the title partner and State Bank ofIndiabeing the banking partner. Other partners and supporters included Currents Detail, Advance Technology, Headmasters, Magic Holidays and Canara Bank.
