CHANDIGARH: Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today gave nod to the Rs. 606.38 crore and Rs. 221.50 crores development projects for Amritsar and Ludhiana respectively to further send these cases to the Ministry of Urban Development for requisite approval and funding under JNNURM scheme.
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister said that a decision to this effect was taken by Mr. Badal during a meeting of the State Level Steering Committee under JNNURM held at the Chief Minister's residence this morning. The spokesperson further said that the two projects of Water Supply and Sewerage which were approved forAmritsarincluded Rs.70.68 crore Water Supply Scheme in newly Developed Abadi outside the walled city phase-II and Rs. 105.70 crore Sewerage Scheme in South-East Zone. Likewise, Rs. 430 crore project including six roads and Solid waste management project (Rs. 105 crore) were also approved during the meeting. It was informed in the meeting that Rs. 495 crore Bus Rapid Transit System forAmritsarhad already been approved by the Chief Minister, which also include Rs. 36 crore for improvement ofBhandariBridgeand Rs. 41 crore for Verka RoB.
For Ludhiana the Chief Minister had approved Rs. 116.70 crore project for the extension and augmentation of water supply scheme phase-I and phase-II, besides Solid Waste Management Project of Rs. 104.80 crore, said the spokesperson. The Bus projects under JNNURM's Public Transport services for the towns of Jalandhar (Rs. 58.76 crore) andPatiala(Rs.24.90 crores) were also discussed in the meeting.
Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included Industries and Commerce Minister Mr. Anil Joshi, Chief Secretary Mr. Rakesh Singh, Principal Secretary Finance Mr. DP Raddy, Principal Secretary to CM Mr. SK Sandhu, Secretary Local Government Mr. Ashok Kumar Gupta, Secretary Housing Mr. A Venu Prasad, CEO PMIDC Mr. JN Balamurgan, GM PMIDC Mr. Radesh Kalra, Special Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, besides the Mayors and Commissioners of the Municipal Corporations of Amritsar, Jalandher and Ludhiana and senior officers of the state government.
