Staff development programme on “Enhancing personal and organizational effectiveness”

CHANDIGARH: Rapidly changing environment requires a skilled, knowledgeable workforce with employees who are adaptive, flexible, and focused on the future. To meet its objectives, organisations need employees with upgraded skills, higher morale, career satisfaction, creativity, motivation, working to their full potential, equipped to deal with the changing demands of the workplace. 

 

The purpose of training programs is to improve employee capabilities in terms of skills and knowledge and their organizational capabilities. In this direction, one week Staff Development Programme on “Enhancing Personal and Organizational Effectiveness” is being organized by Dr. S.S. Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology (SSBUICET), Panjab University (PU),Chandigarh, under the auspices of Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP-II) from December 13 to December 19, 2013 at SSBUICET auditorium.

Around 75 participants from PU, PECuniversityofTechnology, UIET and other neighbouring institutes have registered for the programme. The inaugural ceremony was held in presence of iconic speakers including Dr. Gurinder Pal Singh,Development Head, Hitachi Global Technologies,USAand Sh. Gurmeet Singh Chawla, MD, Master Portfolio Services Ltd. At the onset, Prof. U. S. Shivhare, Chairperson SSBUICET welcomed the guests and the participants.

 

Prof. Anupama Sharma, Coordinator, SDP and Academic Nodal Officer, TEQIP-II introduced the seminar to the audience which was followed by introduction of the speakers by Dr. Seema Kapoor, R&D Coordinator, and TEQIP-II. A very interesting lecture was given by Dr. Gurinder Pal Singh on “Power of Innovation” specially focused on growth and developments in magnetic recording. This was followed by a lecture on Motivation by Sh. Gurmeet Singh Chawla.  Prof. Meenakshi Goyal, Coordinator, TEQIP-II, proposed a vote of thanks.

 

The programme is divided into 22 sessions sprawled over 6 days. The sessions are on various topics including motivation, stress management, team building, and management of financial resources and improving interpersonal relations. A camp has been planned on December 18, 2013 for the participants wherein doctors of Max hospital will be conducting health check up and Dr. Anurag Sharma will be deliberating on How to take care of one’s heart. Experts have been invited from academia, industry and administration.
