Sri Muktsar Sahib: The Punjab Government would soon take up the matter to include Kabbadi in the Olympic Games with the Centre. This was disclosed by the Punjab Chief Minister while interacting with the media persons on the sidelines of Fourth World Kabbadi Tournament's matches being here at Doda today. Replying to a question, Mr. Badal made it crystal clear that he would soon take up this issue with the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and the Union Sports Minister so that the matter to include Punjab's mother game Kabbadi in Olympic Games at the earliest.
He mentioned that the overwhelming response to Kabbadi from across the globe and thus successfully organizing World Kabbadi Tournaments by the State Government had created an sporting atmosphere with enrolling, love and applause from the people worldwide, which would be instrumental for its inclusion in the Olympic Games.
Replying to another query, Mr. Badal said that the BJP would certainly win in four states out of five where Assembly elections had been concluded recently. He further said that BJP and its alliance partners were keep on improving their position day-by-day and undoubtedly BJP led NDA under the leadership of Mr. Narendra Modi as Prime Ministerial candidate would win the forthcoming parliamentary elections with full majority.
On this occasion while addressing the Kabbadi teams of different countries and the public, the Chief Minister said concerted efforts have been made by our government to popularize Kabaddi at the world level by organizing World Kabaddi Cups and the entire credit goes to the Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal who also holds the portfolio of Sports and Youth Affairs.
Mr. Badal called upon the youth of the state to participate in various sports activities for which Government had made concerted efforts to popularize sports not only in urban areas but also in rural sector through establishing Sports Clubs. Mr. Badal further said that thePunjab was the only state in the country to have announced its sports policy adding that the state government had given jobs to a number of sportspersons who have excelled in the various national and international events.
