Cheshirehomes gives 10 tri-cycles to physically challenged

Chandigarh: Cheshire Homes Chandigarh observed the International Day for Persons with Disabilities here today. Dr. Raj Bahadur, Head Orthopedics Department, PGIMER, Mr. Rajesh Jogpal, Director, Social Welfare, UT Chandigarh, and Mr. Goyal, Circle Head of Punjab National Bank, were the guests of honors. Cheshire Homes Chandigarh presented 10 tricycles, three sewing machines and one each of bicycle, wheel chair, and set of crutches to the persons with disabilities during the occasion.

World Disabled Day observed

The UN International Day for Persons with Disabilities was observed with other partner organizations like Rotary Club of Chandigarh Midtown, Inner Wheel Club of Chandigarh Midtown, Association of Physically Handicapped of Chandigarh andPunjab, and the Punjab National Bank. A team of ten doctors also examined over 100 physically challenged persons who were given free medicine.

 

On this occasion 15 rail travel concessional passes were also presented to physically challenged persons. Gurdip Singh Deep, President Cheshire Homes Chandigarh said that ten percent of Indian population i.e. about 100 million persons are disabled either physically or mentally and over 23 million are employable.  InChandigarhnearly 10,000 physically challenged persons are there and we are trying to help them by not only providing them shelter, but also help them develop special skills and make them employable.
