Join the Pulse Polio Vaccination Teams in the field to vaccinate children 0-5 year of age against polio

Chandigarh: 1334 workers,78 Sector Supervisors,15 Area Supervisors with 100 reserved workers and 617 team  have been deployed by Department  of Health And Family Welfare, U.T Chandigarh  to vaccinate  all the children 0-5 Year of age group  in High Risk Areas and others  along with the children on the  roads, streets, beggars etc. as a part of Sub National Immunization Round (SNID) Polio on 24,25 November 2013.


Secretary Health and Director Health Services joined,  the teams at grass root level  to continue  the fight against  polio in the country and for  its eradication. Speaking at the inaugural  session of Sub National Immunization Round (SNID)  round at S/C Khuda Lahora, Secretary Health, Shri. Anil Kumar Ji, said that now we are very near to eradicate this  disease from India which leaves the survivors with crippling handicap and increase the burden on country and families for rehabilitation. India has made great  efforts to have atleast 3 years of polio free period and no case has been reported from U.T Chandigarh since 2006. Therefore, it is appealed to all panchayats, youth  leaders, NGOs, Education  Departments, Social Welfare Departments etc etc to further strengthen the  coordinated efforts. He appreciated efforts being done by various departments to make polio vaccination campaigns a success.



Director health services Dr. S.K. Bhalla  said that hard work  of all the team at ground level is very commendable, and their contribution is very very noble. Secretary Health, himself vaccinated 21 children in Dainik Bhaskar Colony and nearby slum areas and 10 in Khuda Lahora and ensured  the nail  marking and  good reporting.


The members from Rotary International club, Panchayats of Khuda Lahora and nearby other villages, team from World Health Organization, Local participants and District Immunization  Officer, District Family Welfare Officer, were also present. Director Health Services motivated his teams well to make the campaign a success. Above 47000 number of children were vaccinated on 24-11-2013. The campaign shall continue on   25-11-2013 also. DFWO and  DIO requested the parents  to get all the routine immunization for their children as per norms.
