I won't be cowed down by guns and bombs: Modi

Bahraich (Uttar Pradesh), Nov 8

BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi thundered Friday that he was "unstoppable" and he will never be cowed down by bullets and bombs.

Addressing a massive rally here, 135 km from Lucknow, Modi said that while the UPA government had put the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on his trail, the Indian Mujahideen too was on his pursuit.

Referring to the serial bomb blasts in Patna last month that left seven people dead, Modi said he was not one to be cowed down by acts of terrorism.

"I am made of different 'mitti' (DNA). Pistols, guns and bombs cannot stop me for I am unstoppable," he added, to a huge round of applause from the thousands gathered to hear him speak.

He said that the Congress had been worsted thrice in elections in its attempts to oust him in Gujarat.

Taking a dig at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, the Gujarat chief minister said the former had sought Gir lions for the under-construction Lion safari at Etawah -- and he (Modi) agreed to supply them.

"It would, however, have been good had he sought our surplus power to light up the villages in Uttar Pradesh," he added.

And in remarks that ignited laughter, Modi said that while the present Uttar Pradesh chief minister loved lions, his predecessor Mayawati seemed to love elephants.

Both the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party, he said, were power seekers eager only to mint money; they did not care for the development and welfare of the state or its people.

"The central government is dependant on the support of SP-BSP but they have never asked for anything for the state," Modi said.

"All they have asked is for relief from the CBI in various cases against them."

The veteran BJP leader also took potshot at Uttar Pradesh Minister Mohd Azam Khan and said that while his and the chief minister's constituencies enjoyed 24x7 power supply, most parts of the state was in darkness.
