Srinagar, Oct 9 (IANS) Jammu and Kashmir Speaker Mubarak Gul Wednesday said he will summon former Indian Army chief Gen. V.K. Singh to explain allegations that the army secretly funded ministers in the state.

Members of both the ruling National Conference and the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) created a ruckus in the assembly, demanding that the retired general be called.

Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mir Saifullah asked the speaker to summon Gen. V.K Singh.

Speaker Gul said: "I have decided to write a letter to the former army chief to explain his position." He said the former army chief would get a month to appear before the assembly.

"(Even) if I have to convene a special session for Gen. V.K Singh, I will do it."

Gen. Singh triggered a storm by alleging that ministers in Jammu and Kashmir had been receiving secret funds from the army since India became an independent country.
