Superstore employees plan to strike at 12:01 a.m. Sunday

Calgary: Workers at Real Canadian Superstore outlets over the area are ready to hit the picket lines at 12:01 a.m. Sunday.

The strike comes in spite of continuous arrangements between the union, which speaks to 8,500 Superstore representatives crosswise over Alberta, and Loblaws, the guardian organization for Superstore.

"We remain bolted right now, yet we are pressing on to talk. The picket lines will go up," said Christine Mcmeckan, agent for the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 401.

Mcmeckan said the basic need bind is declining to move on key issues, for example representative hours and new-employ pay.

"Excepting any kind of supernatural occurrence where the management returns and just fundamentally gives us everything on the discriminating behavior that we require, we simply don't perceive how we can dodge a picket line," she said.

Loblaw agent Julija Hunter said in a message she couldn't answer particular inquiries concerning the approaching strike.

"We need our clients and partners to realize that we are bound to keeping tabs on arriving at an arrangement through transactions — not through a strike," Hunter said.
