Champion of the arts Dick Matthews dies at 93

Calgary: One of Calgary's most vigorous supporters of the crafts and has burned out.

 

Giver Richard (Dick) Matthews, who helped discovered the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra and likewise made noteworthy commitments to Calgary Opera, Honens International Piano Competition, The Mount Royal. Studio and the University of Calgary, passed away Wednesday morning at the age of 93.

Matthews love of traditional music structured at a young hour in his existence. His father was the first merchant of Steinway pianos in Calgary, Lewis-Luppino said.
