Banff National Park opens first World War exhibit

Calgary: Another display at the Cave and Basin in Banff opened to people in general on Friday and tells the history of First World War internment operations in Canada.

 

Clergyman of Employment and Social Development and Minister for Multiculturalism, Jason Kenney was at the official opening and says the legislature is dedicated to affirming and instructing Canadians about the encounters of the aforementioned who were interned there.

 

Kenney said, “We should guarantee that we recall these troublesome periods in our country's history and never disregard the groups that were influenced by made-in-Canada internment, and how their encounters reflected the character of our nation and thus formed it.”

 

There were 24 internment camps spread out crosswise over Canada throughout that time and various them were placed in or on destinations presently managed by Parks Canada.

 

From 1914 to 1920, more than 8,000 men were interned since they were recognized adversary outsiders and a danger to Canadian security.

 

Generally were Ukrainians and different Europeans and incorporated citizens, parts of adversary militaries and vendor marines.
