IPL spot-fixing: Vindoo Dara Singh arrested by Mumbai Police

New Delhi, May 21:  Actor Vindoo Dara Singh, son of wrestler Dara Singh, has been arrested by the Mumbai Police for his alleged links with bookies accused of spot-fixing in the IPL's on-going edition.

Vindoo Dara Singh is being interrogated by the police. Sources say he was named in the scam by Ramesh Vyas, one of the alleged bookies arrested by the Mumbai Police last week.Ramesh Vyas reportedly has links with Sunil Dubai, an alleged mediator between bookies in India and underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's brother Anees Ibrahim. Police believe he is a "prized catch." Vyas has reportedly told his interrogators that Vindoo Dara Singh was friends with several influential bookies and allegedly facilitated them. Vindoo will soon be produced in a court where the police will seek his custody. Mumbai Police reportedly has taped telephonic conversations as evidence against him. So far, 19 people have been arrested from different cities in the massive spot-fixing scandal. Prominent among them are S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan. All three Rajasthan Royals players have been suspended by the franchise pending inquiry.
