Lucknow, Aug 30
Uttar Pradesh has started identifying unutilized land in government departments and government controlled bodies so that it can be used for infrastructure and industrial development, an official said Friday.
The official said it is being done "with an intention to use this land for infrastructure and industrial development".
A meeting was held Thursday by Surya Pratap Singh, principal secretary, infrastructure and industrial development department (IIDD), in which officials of 22 governments departments and bodies attended.
Directions were issued to all departments to provide details and records of unutilized land within one week, so that the land appropriate for infrastructure and industrial development could be identified and allotted to departments concerned.
Singh told IANS that "Infrastructure and Industrial Investment Policy 2012 of UP provides for creation of land banks to facilitate infrastructure and industrial development as land is the primary requirement for it."
"In order to fulfill this objective and to avoid use of double crop land for infrastructure and industrial development, government is mulling to use the unutilized government land," he added.
