Czech automobile manufacturer Skoda Friday reintroduced its luxury sedan Octavia by launching the passenger vehicle's third generation version.

The vehicle had been discontinued after 2010, as the second generation version of the vehicle did not meet the emission requirements.

"New Octavia is a great car that meets the needs of Indian customers perfectly. Lots of space, modern design, excellent quality and advanced technology at an affordable price," Werner Eichhorn, Skoda, board member, sales and marketing said in a statement.

The new luxury sedan is being produced at the company's plant in Aurangabad, Maharastra, where the firm's other products such as Superb, Yeti and Laura are manufactured.

According to the company, the third generation is the Octavia's largest, safest and most environmentally friendly version. Between November 2001 and October 2010, the company sold 44,900 Octavias.

The company further said that Octavia is a key product in its largest growth strategy with an aim to increase annual sales to at least 1.5 million units.

The company, which has been present in the Indian market since 2001, said that it increased its sales by 14.2 percent to more than 30,000 units in 2012.

"In the first seven months of 2013 alone, the Czechs sold 13,800 vehicles in the subcontinent. This means that around 178,300 Skodas were delivered to Indian customers between 2001 and the end of July 2013," the statement added.
