Man shot at Surrey SkyTrain station

Surrey: A man was shot at a Surrey SkyTrain station Saturday night, according to B.C.'s Independent Investigations Office.
"[Surrey RCMP] officers attended the Scott Road SkyTrain Station in response to a report of a male threatening passengers." the IIO said in a statement. "During a confrontation with police, one adult male was shot. He was transported to hospital for treatment, where he remains at the present time."

The IIO is an independent government agency operating under the Ministry of Justice in B.C. and is responsible for conducting independent investigations into incidents of serious harm or death to citizens that involve the police.

Scott Road station was closed following the incident, which occured at approximately 7:30 p.m., but re-opened around two hours later. (Courtesy: Vancouver Sun)
