Calgary police homicide detectives have been called in to investigate the death of a boy who was found in medical distress in his Citadel home. Police and EMS were called to the 100-block of Citadel Drive NW around 10 p.m. on Tuesday. "The circumstances surrounding (the) death are considered suspicious and as a result the homicide unit has been called in to consult," said duty inspector Mike Tillotson. EMS spokesman Stuart Brideaux said the intial reports were that a boy was in medical distress.

"We assessed a youth under 18 for complaints of a medical nature. After a brief assessment, EMS elected not to attempt any ressucitative efforts and declared him deceased on the scene," said Brideaux. The scene was turned over to the police and medical examiner. Residents in the area said they had not seen police at the home before. "There were lot of police cars, one firetruck and one ambulance," said Vafa, who lives across the street and did not want to provide his last name. "It's a very family-oriented neighbourhood. You see a lot of kids and couples walking around," he said.
