Lucknow, August 4: Slamming UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, the Samajwadi Party (SP) has hit back saying that Sonia should have written letters when her son-in-law Robert Vadra’s land deals and Ashok Khemka’s suspension issues took place.
The sharp reaction from the SP came after the Congress president wrote a letter urging the PM to intervene so that Nagpal is not penalised for standing up against "vested interests".
Nagpal was suspended by the state government on July 28 for ordering demolition of a mosque wall in Noida. While a report by the District magistrate of Noida cleared the suspended IAS officer of the charge by stating that she had not ordered the demolition, the state government refuses to reinstate her. The issue of the suspension of the IAS officer is likely to come up in the Monsoon session of the Parliament that will start from Monday.
"We must ensure that the officer is not unfairly treated. Implementation machinery must see that the conditions are conducive to delivery of public services without fear or favour," Sonia had written in her letter.
Khemka came into news after he alleged irregularities in Vadra's land deals in Haryana. The charges were denied by the state government. The IAS officer of the 1991 batch has been transferred 44 times in his 22-year career
