Adding to the mystery behind the disappreance of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose,it has come to the fore that the Jawaharlal Nehru government spied on the family members of the great freedom fighter for close to two decades.
Recently declassified intelligence files have revealed that Boses's family and relatives were put under surveillance between 1948 and 1968- a period that covers Nehru's tenure as the Prime Minister, media reports said.
According to the Mail Today report, the details of the files, presently at the National Archives, Intelligence Bureau, which used to report directly to Nehru, carried out unprecedented British-era surveillance on two family homes of Bose in the then Calcutta- 1 Woodburn Park and 38/2 Elgin Road.
IB used to intercept letters of Boses family members and also follow their movements in and out side the country, the report said and added the security sleuths contacted Security Control, as the IB headquarters was known then, to give details on the movenemts of the Bose's family members.
The IB spied on Sisir Kumar Bose and Amiya Nath Bose, sons of Sarat Chandra Bose and Netaji's nephew siblings.
