As Mr Perfectionist turns 50 today, we take a look at his illustrious career and ask you to choose his best work till date. Now that’s a  toughie. Aint it?

Born on March 14, 1965 to film producer Tahir Hussain, who would have thought that Mohammed Aamir Hussain Khan would become one of the biggest superstars of Bollywood 50 years later. The versatile actor, known for his choice of roles, made his first appearance in films as a child artist in uncle Nasir Hussain’s Yaadon Ki Baarat. But his first big break was Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak in 1988 along with Juhi Chawla, which set his filmy career rolling. Over the years, Aamir has done some of the  finest films like Andaz Apna Apna, Dil Chahta Hai, Rang De Basanti and so on.

As the actor turns 50, we ask you to choose the best film of Aamir Khan from our list of films:

Lagaan

Ashutosh Gowariker’s period cricket film, is hands down one of the best films in Indian cinema, let alone best film in Aamir Khan’s career. Lagaan, which starred Aamir as messiah of farmers, made India proud as it was shortlisted in the top five films in Foreign Films category in Oscars. Aamir’s impeccable acting interspersed with feeling of patriotism and love for cricket made Lagaan a legendary film. And Aamir’s last ball six is still etched in the memories of the masses.

Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak

Back in 1988, Bollywood witnessed the rising of fresh jodi of Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, who later went on to become one of the most celebrated onscreen pairs of Bollywood. Though it was his debut film as lead, Aamir’s boyish charm and honest acting was hard to be ignored as Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak turned out to be the holy grail of true romantics. Bollywood’s beautiful take on age old Romeo and Juliet tale, stood out from the regular romantic films as it dared to tell a story with a tragic ending.

Ghajini

This AR Murugadoss commercial entertainer saw Aamir Khan going through a physical transformation like never before. For the role of memory loss patient, Aamir has sported 6 pack abs after intense workout regime for months. His cool buzz cut in the film also became a style statement, as his hairdo became an instant hit. Aamir went on to do justice to the role of revenge seeking memory loss patient, with his intimidating body language.

3 Idiots

The birthday boy shares great rapport with director Rajkumar Hirani, which started with 3 Idiots, where Aamir rocked the screen as eccentric college kid Rancho. People found it hard to believe that even at the age of 44, Aamir managed to look 20 for the film. The film which questions our existing education was backed by some remarkable performance from Dhoom 3 star, as he won millions of hearts with his quirky antics.

PK

I doubt anyone could as believable as an alien from outer space, as Aamir Khan did in Raju Hirani’s PK. The film which broke all box office records despite protests from religious leaders, questions the religious superstitions prevalent in our culture. Aamir looked adorable as pan chewing alien, whose simplistic approach towards life brings change in the minds of god fearing people.

So what are you waiting for? Exercise your right to vote and choose the best Aamir Khan film till date!
