The year 2014 saw a lot of new shows with interesting new trends. The whole concept of finite series has just kicked in and we definitely love it. From murder mystery, to romance, melodrama, to comedy – Indian television has a show in every genre. We picked the five best shows that went on air in 2014 and managed to win us over. So vote and tell us your favourite new show. The nominations are…

Kumkum Bhagya: The show didn’t just introduce one new pair – Sriti Jha and Shabbir Ahluwalia but also gave the audiences Mrunal Thakur and Arjit Taneja.Kumkum Bhagya is a complicated love story which is running purely because of the amazing chemistry between the lead couples. And we know you cannot deny this fact.

Nisha Aur Uske Cousins: It chronicles the everyday life of an upper middle class family. The kids of the family and their everyday issues have been showcased so beautifully that you feel like the show is an extension of you. It’s not over dramatic and the realistic approach to the show is why most of us love it.

Ek Hasina Thi: It was the first of it’s kind thriller show which came with an end date. The show was intriguing, interesting, thrilling and definitely left you wanting more. The daily soap was rumoured to be loosely based on the international show Revenge. Nonetheless, we loved it.

Jamai Raja: Even before the show went on air, people said that Jamai Raja is loosely based on the hit Anil Kapoor, Hema Malini and Madhuri Dixit movie also with the same title. The show starring Ravi Dubey and Nia Sharma instantly became a junta favourite ‘coz of the intense chemistry between the hero-heroine. It also marked the comeback vehicle of Achint Kaur.

Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi: This Balaji Telelfilms show didn’t exactly start out with great numbers. However a leap in time put the show in perspective. The macho business tycoon coming in rescue of the damsel in distress kinda approach clicked with the viewers and put the show on the map. Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi seems inspired by several Mills & Boon (MB) books; considering it is working well for them, we don’t blame them for going the MB way.
