Goa police arrest Italian national, recover drug worth millions

Anti-narcotics cell of police in Goa have arrested a 54-year-old Italian national and recovered drug worth one hundred million from him.

Acting on a tip-off, a raid was conducted in Anjuna beach area during which accused Vincenzo Rainone was caught red-handed.

Later his house was searched where police found 30,000 LSD papers (Lysergic Acid Diethylamide) and liquid LSD.

"Staffs of anti-narcotic cell of Goa police, while on patrolling in Anjuna area, they caught hold one Italian national and on his possession some LCD papers were recovered and later his house was searched and we recovered 30,000 LCD papers and liquid LCD. In the international market, the value of this LCD papers is around 10 crore rupees," said Deputy Inspector General of Police, V. Renganathan.

This is one of the major seizures of LSD papers by the Goa police.

The accused had been visiting Goa on business and tourist visas since last 14 years. Rainone will be produced before court for police remand.
