Ottawa, Ontario – Transport Canada

The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Minister of Transport, today attended NAV CANADA’s annual general meeting where she took the opportunity to raise issues of concern to communities.

Minister Raitt’s participation follows up on a roundtable held by Minister Raitt and MP John Carmichael in August 2014, where stakeholders considered how all parties – NAV CANADA, airports, airlines, Transport Canada and communities – can better work together to manage and reduce the impacts of aircraft noise.

Minister Raitt also congratulated NAV CANADA on another successful year as a world leader in air navigation services.

Quick Facts

  • NAV CANADA owns and operates Canada’s civil air navigation service, and manages 18 million square kilometres of Canadian and oceanic airspace.
  • With 40,000 customers and 12 million aircraft movements a year, NAV CANADA is the world’s second-largest air navigation service by traffic volume.

Quote

"NAV CANADA is truly a world leader in air navigation and is sharing its expertise with countries around the world. I am pleased to work with NAV CANADA and other stakeholders to find innovative and effective ways to manage airport noise in cities and towns across Canada."
The Honourable Lisa Raitt
Minister of Transport
