Salman Khan accompanied his Kick co-star Jacqueline Fernandez to Sri Lanka recently in order to participate in the political campaigning for President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Salman’s visit to Lanka has caused discontent in some Tamil political parties like MDMK and DMK. Tamil leader Vaiko even labelled the actor as a “traitor” and “betrayer”.

Salman’s Kick co-star Jacqueline has come out in support of him and said that it ws she who requested Salman to accompany her to Sri Lanka.

She clarified that Salman actually wished to extend the work of his charitable organisation Being Human in Sri Lanka. She was quoted saying, “That was the main purpose of this visit. Salman donated 200 lenses to facilitate cataract operations in certain under-privileged areas.He also donated money. It bothers me that people can’t see the good in any initiative. All they want to do is identify an ulterior agenda behind every good cause.”

Though that is a pretty strong statement by Jacky we wonder why Salman is still mum over the entire controversy. Jacqueline further added, “Salman is an individual in his own right who knows both Rajapaksa and his son Namal well. If he wants to drum up support for Rajapaksa that’s his choice and nobody can question it.”

The lady sure has a point. Let us wait and watch if Salman too has something to say about the whole episode.
