Mumbai, July 5: Former Miss World and actress Yukta Mookhey has lodged an FIR against her husband Prince Tuli for alleged domestic violence, the police said today.
"In her complaint, Ms Mookhey alleged she had often been beaten up and troubled by her husband Prince Tuli. An FIR has been registered under Section 498A (cruelty and harassment) and Section 377 (unnatural sex) of Indian Penal Code after her complaint yesterday," an officer at Amboli police station said.

Mr Tuli is a New York-based businessman and financial consultant.

The actress was medically examined after her complaint, the police said. No arrest has been made so far in the case.

Earlier a number of non-cognisable offences were registered against Mr Tuli at the police station after repeated complaints by Ms Mookhey.

In case of a non-cognisable offence, the police cannot register an FIR, investigate or arrest anyone without the permission or direction from the court.

Ms Mookhey was crowned Miss World in December 1999 at the Olympia Theatre in London at the age of 20. Later, she acted in a few Bollywood movies.

Mr Tuli's family owns a business empire in Central India with interests in logistics, hotels, malls, education and construction equipment.

ipc498a has become a joke and WMD (weapon of mans destruction). men are being imprisoned without even a hearing. at present scales of indian legal system are heavily tilted in favour of women and I strongly urge Supreme Court to show "tilted scale" as their logo/emblem. Where is the penalty for false implication? as per a survey, 85% of such proceedings are found to be wrong.? in case this provision of imprisonment without even a hearing is deemed to be correct, it needs to be balanced by addition of a clause " in case it is determined that the cases lodged for domestic violence and dowry were false then the spouse and same no. of her relatives will be imprisoned for 5 times the length of time the Defendant and his relatives were kept in jail." I am not saying that such cases lodged by women are always wrong. but indians must not forget that women like sita and draupadi were central to the epic wars where thousands of innocents lost their lives and no one has ever thought of building a memorial or temple in the memory of those unfortunate victims. !! Incredible India ? oh yeah!
