Commemorative Booklet to Honour First World War Veterans

The Honourable Diane Finley, Member of Parliament for Haldimand–Norfolk, today announced Government of Canada funding for a booklet that will display a collection of artifacts to commemorate and honour the service and sacrifices of Canada’s First World War Veterans. Ms. Finley made the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Julian Fantino, Minister of Veterans Affairs.

Presented by the Ruthven Park National Historic Site through the Lower Grand River Land Trust IncorporatedThe Ruthven Collection – Great War Artifacts booklet will include high-quality photographs, short essays by historians as well as a story about the Ruthven connection to the First World War. The booklet will present the collection in its entirety for the first time ever.

  • The Lower Grand River Land Trust Incorporated is receiving $2,500, through Veterans Affairs Canada’s Community Engagement Partnership Fund, for The Ruthven Collection – Great War Artifacts booklet.
  • The booklet will be used as a research document for schools, local branches of the Royal Canadian Legion and military museums.
  • Lower Grand River Land Trust Incorporated is a non-profit organization that manages the Ruthven Park National Historic Site.
  • Since 2006, the Government of Canada has approved more than $13 million, through the Community Engagement Partnership Fund, for projects that recognize traditional and modern-day Canadian Veterans and those who died in service.
