Cyclone 'Hudhud' has caused loss to the tune of Rs 267.98 crore in East Godavari district, an official said today.
The cyclone, which made a landfall in Visakhapatnam on October 12, damaged standing crops, roads and buildings in the coastal district. The estimated loss has been pegged at Rs 267.98 crore, District Collector Neetu Prasad said here.
She said agricultural crops spread over 18,381 hectares and horticulture crops in 1,638 hectares were damaged in the natural calamity.
An estimated 1.65 lakh population in 176 villages under 31 mandals was affected by the cyclone, which had unleashed heavy rains and high speed winds.
No human casualty was reported in the district but livestock worth Rs 8.60 lakh perished, Prasad said.
The Collector said 58,388 people residing in low-lying areas were shifted to 90 relief camps and four NDRF teams were used in rescue and relief operations.
East Godavari was among the four Andhra Pradesh districts impacted by Hudhud.
