Hrithik Roshan’s last film Krrish 3 not only broke box office records but raked in big moolah too. Since last year was super successful for the honey-eyed actor, expectations are quite high from his latest film Bang Bang which releases today. Well, BollywoodLife recently caught up Jr Roshan to talk about his highly-anticipated flick co-starring Katrina Kaif. And though we had to wait before we got talking to the B-town hunk, it was all worth it. Read on to know what Hrithik told us about Bang Bang, his character in the film and if he is planning to sign any Hollywood project…

Katrina Kaif has said that Bang Bang is a completely different from Knight and Day….

Yes, the germ is of Knight and Day but I wanted to do something in that space. I had seen Knight and Day on a flight and one month later Sid (Siddharth Anand) called me and said, ‘I want to remake Knight and Day’ and I told him that I was thinking the same. I think it was destiny coz afterDhoom 2, I had not done something in that space. I had done Rohit, Agneepath but I wanted to do something that I had not done for a long time. So this was one space where I could do it and I told Siddharth yes on the phone within five seconds. But I said that I would sign the film once we work on the script. For seven months we worked on the script and then we started the film. I also remember everyone said that, ‘Yeh kya kar raha hai yaar’, ‘Why are you signing the film’ and ‘What are doing with Siddharth Anand?’. And I was like, ‘What are you’ll saying’ because a man should be judged by what he is right now. That man inspired me and passed on his vision to me. Judging a man because of his past is no right and nobody has the power to know where I am going in my life so judging my decision is also not right. And films are not about image but about exploring, giving people what they want, giving them hope, entertaining them. If you’re stuck to one image then its a business for you. Films for me is a way of contributing to the world with my art, with my creativity.

Sujoy Ghosh has come in as a writer. So what was the reason that he was called in?

I don’t know. I think he is somebody who has worked with Sid as a team but I am not sure. When I entered, Sujoy was already on board. And then Sujoy, Sid, me and Abbas, we all sat for seven months together and got the script done.

Was Bang Bang more difficult as compared to Krrish?

Yes but it was also the most easiest film of my life. Because I had been through the worst and once you go through the biggest struggle of your life then everything else becomes easy. So even in that there is a lesson to learn. Once you pass the biggest struggles or challenges then you’re set and then you fly. So Bang Bang was the most easiest film for me.

What about Knight and Day made you feel that it could be a Bollywood film?

Its a fun film and its screenplay is also very much like a Hindi film. And we have Indianised it in a very very big way. When you see the film and if you don’t know its the remake of Knight and Day, it won’t even occur to you that its from a Hollywood film. Its completely different.

You said that you’re playing yourself in Bang Bang…

When I read the script, I realised there was nothing to prep. This guy was me. It was a discovery for me that my true self was actually Rajveer. So when you see the film, I hope you’ll like me because that’s me…(smiles)

How was it working with Danny Denzongpa?

It was a great experience to work with him again. I love him… he is s wise and we really became friends. Imagine he is Danny uncle for me but in this film we really connected as friends and he gave me a lot of good advice. One nice incident that happened was that my first shot which I had to do with him which was like a kick is the same exact shot that I had done as a 12-year-old child where I had to kick him in Bhagwan Dada. So we were both stunned that after 30 years we were doing the same shot. It was quite a coincidence.

Comparisons with Tom Cruise are bound to happen so how are you going to take it?

Its unfair to compare because, I believe in individuality. Tom Cruise will interpret the same sentence in a certain way because of his life and experiences that he has been through. I will see the same line and because of my experiences in life, I will interpret that line in my own way. And I need to get my individuality out so I did everything in my way. The remake of Agneepath could have gone wrong very easily but I did that film according to my interpretation. So actor’s interpretation will be different if they are honest and fearless about it.

Do you think Bang Bang will accentuate the action genre in Bollywood?

I think so. It’s definitely a step further and it will motivate the other filmmakers to do even better and bigger films in this genre. For me, its personally my greatest victory.

Are you taking up any Hollywood projects?

Hollywood projects are always there. They keep sending me scripts. There are six scripts and I am reading them.
