SpiceJet chief operating officer Sanjiv Kapoor has reacted to AirAsia group CEO Tony Fernandes"s outburst accusing domestic airlines, particularly IndiGo, of blocking his airline in India.
"Interesting to see the new entrant foreign airline change strategy every month and claim full planes when loads in the low 70s...But then again back in July they claimed they were "sold out" for next two months, when a simple web check could prove that was false," Kapoor tweeted on Friday.
Though Kapoor did not name the foreign airline, the reference to AirAsia was obvious.
On Thursday, Fernandes had lashed out against Federation of Indian Airlines (FIA), a grouping of domestic airlines, for creating obstacles for in AirAsia's plans. AirAsia wants to be a member of the group but is not being given membership, Fernandes claimed yesterday, adding that the group allegedly tried to persuade the civil aviation ministry not to invite AirAsia and Vistara for a consultative meeting.
