New Delhi:
The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued a notice to CBI director Ranjit Sinha on a plea seeking his removal from the post and an SIT probe against him for allegedly protecting accused in coal block allocation scam.
A bench led by Chief Justice R M Lodha issued the notice to Sinha. The plea by NGO Common Cause, alleged that the entry register, which it filed in a sealed envelope along with the application, suggest that influential people named in coal blocks scam, 2G cases and 4G scandal met Sinha and "many of the meetings were held late at night".
The apex court asked the CBI director to file response in 10 days and posted the matter for further hearing on September 19.
Another bench led by Justice H L Dattu had on Monday sought Sinha's response on disassociating him from 2G cases.
