Sonam Kapoor’s Khoobsurat trailer was released with a lot of fanfare today and we could see similarities between the new one and the 1980 cult romantic comedy. Sonam plays the character portrayed by Rekha in the original. However, the character of the boy’s mother interested us a lot. Ratna Pathak Shah is playing the character which was played by her mother Dina Pathak in the original movie. Uncanny resemblance hai na?

If we recall Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s film portrayed the mother’s character as someone whom the whole household resented because of her strictness, but still everyone obeyed her just to be on her good side. In the present day we couldn’t think of anyone better than Ratna Pathak Shah to portray the same characteristics. Remember the strict and handsomely rich Maya Sarabhai from Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai? Isn’t Ratna the perfect cast for the mom’s role?
