Police in western Quebec caught two men racing at speeds up to 190 kilometres per hour along Highway 50, just north of Gatineau. The officers from MRC des Collines-de-l'Outaouais were patrolling along Hwy. 50's westbound lanes around 11 p.m. Monday. They then saw two vehicles driving very slow next to one another near the Labrosse exit, but the drivers did not realize the police were there. Police said they heard three honks of a car horn before the vehicles accelerated and sped off. The officers caught the vehicles travelling as fast as 190 km/h and stopped them near the Montée Paiment exit. Police have suspended the licences of two men, 19 and 20, from Cantley, Que., and Gatineau for seven days. Their vehicles have also been impounded for a week. If the two drivers are found guilty, they will be fined more than $2,000 and receive 30 demerit points each.
