Death of an inmate at Archambault Institution

On June 28, 2014, Roger Lanteigne, an inmate at Archambault Institution, was found unresponsive in his cell.

Staff members immediately began performing CPR and emergency services were called. The offender was taken to the Cité-de-la-Santé Hospital in Laval where he was pronounced dead at 1:10 a.m.

At the time of his death, Mr. Lanteigne, 32 years old, had been serving an indeterminate sentence for second degree murder since June 15, 2001.

The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
